In-Home Developmental Intervention
Canopy Family Services, LLC provides in-home developmental intervention for children with developmental and neurobiological differences and disabilities. This includes children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental delays and disabilities, sensory processing differences, and many other differences.
What is it?
Developmental intervention is a service that works naturally with your child to help him or her make progress with communication, emotional regulation, social engagement/relationships, problem solving, and other skills and capacities that support a rich and fulfilling life. Together, we will look at where your child currently is along the developmental trajectory and discover how to support your child in reaching new developmental heights and milestones.
What does it look like?
It looks like play! Development naturally occurs when children are playing with others. So, we will be following the child's interests while working to help the child engage with us to learn and grow. We will work together to harness your child's strengths, and your own, to help your child reach his or her developmental potential.
How do we do it?
We will utilize the DIR/Floortime approach developed by Stanley Greenspan. The D stands for Development, the I for individual differences, and the R for relationships. These three elements are integrated into a holistic intervention that helps the child reach new developmental levels while supporting the parent-child relationship.
